When a rink is not reaching its expected condition, the most useful first step is a precise description of the problem. “The chiller is broken” tells a service team much less than a timeline, equipment information and the alarm shown on the display.
Tell the technician whether the problem began at startup, after a shutdown or during normal operation. Note whether all units appear affected or only one. Record displayed messages exactly, including when they appeared. Do not reset or bypass protection devices to keep the equipment running.
A refrigerated rink is more than its compressor. Depending on its design, it includes refrigeration equipment, glycol circulation, pumps, sensors and controls. For example, Custom Ice's published RinkMate Kit description includes a glycol circulation pump alongside refrigeration components. Your actual equipment nameplate and manual determine the applicable configuration.
That is why a service request should include the chiller model, unit count and any recent work involving pumps or controls. A model name alone is not enough to establish refrigerant type, electrical requirements or service scope.
Record the opening schedule, recent shutdowns, maintenance visits and changes you know about. For outdoor rinks, mention the weather and recent resurfacing activity. For indoor facilities, mention any concurrent humidity or building-HVAC concerns without assuming they have the same cause.
Do not add refrigerant or glycol based on an online checklist, open energized equipment or defeat a safety control. A service professional must assess the specific system and follow its documentation. If there is an active safety hazard, use the appropriate emergency response rather than waiting for a website inquiry.
Yukos reviews the equipment, location and reported symptoms before confirming a diagnostic visit. Findings may lead to a repair quotation, further investigation or coordination with the original builder. Availability, visit charges and the scope are confirmed before booking.
