An RTU is not truly self-contained once it serves the building

Packaged rooftop equipment combines major heating, cooling, ventilation, electrical, control, drainage, and airflow functions in one exposed location. But its performance still depends on the roof curb, duct connections, outside-air setup, electrical service, controls, condensate path, access, and the distribution system below.

Before replacement

Verify the interfaceβ€”not just the model number

A replacement unit has to match more than nominal capacity. Curb dimensions, supply and return orientation, heating configuration, electrical service, control requirements, ventilation needs, roof condition, weight, access, and allowed downtime all matter.

Treating these items as afterthoughts creates field changes, schedule risk, poor airflow, or future service problems. They belong in the replacement scope from the beginning.
